The main characteristic of this kind of material 1015 carbon steel is similar to the 1010 carbon steel, (The difference is the higher percentage of the C element) consists in the heat treatment exclusively through the hardening of a superficial layer, while the hardness of the inner part of the ball does not vary. The balls of this material is economic for all those applications that do not require the use of full-hardened steel balls.
This type of steel has a great wear and load capacity but no corrosion resistance to water and chemical agent. Carbon steel balls should be plated for the outside use.
